The Hope Alive Initiative (HAI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as determined leadership in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Communications, Ernest Omoarelojie, the group said the President has demonstrated urgency, focus, and political will in responding to violent crimes and enhancing public confidence.
The organisation noted that Nigeria has recently experienced heightened security concerns, including incidents of abductions and armed attacks across multiple states. HAI said President Tinubu’s response combined practical actions with oversight, prioritising citizens’ safety.
The statement highlighted the President’s decision to cancel scheduled international trips to focus on domestic security matters, describing the move as “leading from the front.”
HAI also cited the coordinated response to mass abductions in Kebbi, Kwara, and Niger states, noting the successful rescue of abductees and the arrest of a major security threat in Taraba.
The group welcomed the establishment of a central security coordination room under the President’s supervision, which brings together intelligence, military, police, and diplomatic structures to support real-time strategy and deployment of resources.
In addition, HAI praised the administration’s approval for the recruitment of additional police officers, redeployment of military personnel to active duty, and reassignment of officers from VIP protection to national security duties, describing it as a move toward more community-focused policing.
The organisation also acknowledged high-level diplomatic efforts, including engagements with international partners and regional consultations, which aim to strengthen collaboration against terrorism and cross-border crime.
HAI further pointed to judicial and law-enforcement developments, including prosecutions for violent crimes and investigations into religiously motivated attacks.
“These are challenging times, but Nigeria has a leadership approach focused on addressing security concerns directly. Over time, these measures are expected to benefit public safety and confidence,” the statement concluded.
