ABUJA — President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday led a delegation of Senators on a condolence visit to the family of the late Senator Okechukwu Ezea, who passed away on November 18, 2025.

Earlier in the day, the Senate had adjourned plenary to enable lawmakers visit the Abuja residence of the late Senator, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Akpabio said the lawmakers came to identify with the family during their moment of grief and to offer support.

“It is not always a pleasant experience to work closely with a colleague for over two years, see each other daily—sometimes more than we see our own families—and then suddenly lose them,” he said.

“We are gathered here to commiserate with your family and to let you know that you are not alone in mourning your late husband, father, brother, and uncle, Distinguished Senator Ezea.

“In our interactions with him in the Senate, he was a man of peace who related with colleagues with dignity and respect. His passing came as a shock to us all.”

In his response, Jideofor Ezea, son of the late Senator, expressed gratitude to the Senate President and the accompanying lawmakers for the condolence visit. He said their words of comfort and prayers had provided strength to the family during this difficult period.
