Abuja – The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to unite in efforts to ensure the safe return of schoolchildren kidnapped in Niger State, as well as other victims of violence across the country.
Obi commended security agencies for their ongoing efforts to rescue abducted victims, while emphasizing that there is no room for complacency.
In a post titled “Rescue Efforts Commendable, But No Room for Complacency” on his verified X handle, the former Anambra State Governor wrote:
“It is gratifying to receive some positive news on the rescue of the 38 abducted victims from the Eruku Church attack in Kwara State, as well as the escape of about 50 students from the Catholic Private School in Niger State. I would like to commend the security agencies and all those who played a role in this development.
“However, it is important to emphasise that there must be no relenting or relaxing until all the children are reunited with their families. There is also a pressing need for both security agencies and school authorities nationwide to remain proactive and ensure that adequate security measures are put in place to frustrate the plans of criminals.”
Obi’s statement highlights the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between authorities, communities, and citizens to safeguard children and prevent further abductions.
