Senator Adeola Olamilekan
The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, has congratulated Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on his conferment with the prestigious Fellowship Award (FYCT) by the Senate and Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH).
In a statement issued on Sunday, Oladele described the honour as a “well-deserved and symbolic recognition” from Nigeria’s premier tertiary institution, noting that the award reflects Senator Adeola’s longstanding commitment to educational development and youth empowerment.
He said the Fellowship Award was an eloquent affirmation of Yayi’s dedication to advancing tertiary education in Nigeria, particularly through his legislative advocacy for the upgrade of YABATECH and the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI), into full-fledged Universities of Technology.
Oladele recalled that Yayi had consistently pushed for the necessary legislative backing to elevate the two institutions in order to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to train the high-level manpower required for national development.
“Today, we are witnessing the fulfilment of that vision,” Oladele noted. “FPI has been successfully transmuted into a substantive University of Technology, while the transformation of YABATECH is now awaiting Presidential assent.”
He added that Senator Adeola’s commitment to youth development extends far beyond legislative intervention. Through his annual scholarship and bursary schemes for students of Yewa extraction across Nigerian tertiary institutions, Yayi has continued to demonstrate a deep passion for human capital development, poverty reduction and community upliftment.
Oladele further stated that the impact of the senator’s educational support programmes has been felt across families and communities in Ogun West, describing him as “a political icon and an unapologetic champion of social liberation.”
He commended the Senate and Management of YABATECH for honouring Senator Adeola, expressing confidence that the recognition would inspire him to record even greater achievements in the future.
