WARRI—THE Urhobo Youth Assembly, UYA, has called for direct allocation of the 13 per cent derivation fund to oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.
UYA, in a protest letter to Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday, noted that the funds were not getting to the host communities, whom they were meant for.
UYA President, Mr. Jude Akpore and Mr. Frank Onogagamue, Secretary, in the letter, argued that it was unconstitutional to route the funds through a third party, lamenting that the politics linked with the disbursement of the funds through the respective state governments and the Houses of Assembly was unfair.
The group accused the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation of intentionally removing projects earmarked for the area.
