A former House of Representatives aspirant, Martha Agba, has extended a warm welcome to the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Ben Ayade, on his return to Calabar after two years of leaving office.
In a goodwill message titled “A Hero Returns Home,” Agba described the return of the former governor as a moment of pride for the people of Cross River State, noting that his legacy continues to resonate deeply among residents across the state.
She praised Senator Ayade for his visionary leadership and people-centered governance, stating that his administration “did not just govern the grassroots, it lived in the grassroots.” According to her, Ayade’s years in office were marked by youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and an agro-industrial revolution that sought to reposition the state’s economy.
“Governor Ayade was not merely a leader; he was a movement,” Agba said. “He opened doors many didn’t even know existed, moved young people from the sidelines to the center stage, and consistently gave new voices a seat at the decision-making table.”
Agba commended the former governor for his audacity and foresight, saying his industrial and agricultural policies redefined governance in Cross River and laid the foundation for a more self-reliant and prosperous future.
“As you return home today, Your Excellency, know this — the love is real, the respect is deep, and the welcome is from the heart,” she added.
Senator Ben Ayade, who served as Governor of Cross River State from 2015 to 2023, is widely regarded for his efforts in industrialization, youth engagement, and innovative governance.
