Minister reaffirms support for Nigerian youth

Blessing Akinlosotu during the official presentation of the newly elected President of NYC to the Minister yesterday in Abuja.

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing all necessary support to Nigerian youths to enable them contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic development.

He made this known yesterday in Abuja during the official presentation of the newly elected executives of the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), led by Comrade Jethro Annum Terhile.

Presenting the new leadership on behalf of Nigerian youths, the NYC Board Chairman, Dr. Yakubu Shendam, informed the Minister that youths across the country have agreed to unite under one umbrella to “enable them partner with and partake in the various opportunities under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.”

Shendam also invited the Minister to the inauguration of the new executives scheduled for November 27 in Abuja.

In his response, the Honourable Minister commended the youths for their patriotic unity and shared vision for national growth, in line with the bold aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“You have demonstrated great maturity by reconciling your differences and coming together under one body to pursue your vision for a better Nigeria. This is a welcome development, and we shall do everything possible to support you in achieving the goals you have set for yourselves.

“Already, this administration has launched several initiatives aimed at actively engaging youths in economic activities to empower them and address the challenges of unemployment and underemployment, which you are equally committed to tackling.

“Be assured of our support in all areas of youth development. Youths are critical stakeholders in our quest for a better Nigeria and must not be left out. We will continue to identify with you and the youth constituency to expand the dividends of democracy across the entire youth ecosystem,” the Minister stated.

In his vote of thanks, the newly elected NYC President, Comrade Jethro Annum Terhile, expressed appreciation to the Minister “for the warm reception and assurances of partnership and collaboration.”

He added that the NYC will remain a responsible vehicle for youth emancipation and empowerment through sustainable partnerships and initiatives.
