LAGOS—A Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere, has adjourned till June 4 for hearing in the bail applications by seven suspected members of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, who were remanded in prison custody by an Igbosere Magistrate’s  Court.

When the matter came up, weekend, before Justice Candide Johnson, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs Olabisi Ogungbesan, said she noticed that a letter employing the DPP to build the case file with all diligence was sent to the Lagos State Attorney-General, and also sent to her on April 26, 2012.

The suspected NURTW members were alleged to have killed one Damola Dosunmu on February 19, 2012, at Ilupesi, Lagos Island, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Accused persons are Mustapha Adekunle 36 (alias Sagoe ); Abu Ismaila 40 (alias Stainless); Jamiu Erinfolami, 34; Michael Kaizer 46 (alias Jagger); Kunle Jaiyeoba 39; Sunday Omole 43 and Tajudeen Saheed, 28.

The prosecutor at the Magistrate Court, Igbosere, Mr Victor Nwadike had on  April, 2012 asked the court to order the remand of the accused, pending the advice of the DPP and said the defendants committed the alleged offences between October, 2005 and February, 2012 in different parts of Lagos such as Isale-Eko, Iga -Idunganran Street, Adeniji-Adele Road, Ilupesi and Idumota.
