Akure—ATTEMPT by two Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, governorship aspirants in Ondo State to outwit one another ahead of the party’s primaries is tearing the party apart in the state.

This is coming as the over 25 aspirants await the decision of the leaders of the party on the primaries where the candidate that would fly the flag of the party in the October 20 election in the state would be picked.

First to fire the salvo was a leader in the camp of Senator Ajayi Boroffice who said that over 5000 members of the ruling LP and PDP had defected to boost the chances of the governorship aspirant.

Mr Jimi Adekanle said that the defectors decided to join ACN because of  Boroffice’s ambition.

According to him, the popularity and acceptance of Boroffice was making the number of those defecting to swell daily.

Reacting to the claim in Boroffice camp, another chieftain of the party, Chief Taye Orimoloye, a staunch supporter of another aspirant  Dr. Olu Agunloye, said the purported defection was fraudulent and never happened.

Orimoloye described it as an “unwholesome development” and warned that “such fraudulent claims could cripple ACN high fortunes in the South Senatorial District.”

He said:  ”The purported rally was not held anywhere in Irele. The rally which witnessed mass decamping of LP and PDP was the one organised by Agunloye’s Omoluabi Platform of ACN and Agunloye himself has visited the area to identify with us several times while Boroffice only come once and not to attend any rally.”
