BENIN – AHEAD the July 14, governorship election in Edo State, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday, kicked off his campaign in Edo Central senatorial district of the state.

He said he intends to build an edifice in Benin City after the deceased journalists, who died in auto crash in his convoy penultimate week.

He said: “We will call the edifice ‘Democracy House’ and will put the names of those young men who died because they died so that the god father may not prevail, so that good people will witness development. We will put their names on gold forever and even after my death, historians will say this was why this house was named after these people.”

Before Oshiomhole spoke, his deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu; Director General of Oshiomhole Campaign Organisation, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi; former Chairman of the party, Chief Tony Omoaghe and former member of the House of Representatives, Patrick Obahiagbon, addressed the crowd, stressing the need for Esan people to support the second term ambition of the governor.

They said that Esan people had benefited from the government more than from previous Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governments.

Oshiomhole, who expressed gratitude to Esan people for turning out in large numbers to listen to his “report card,” invoked the power of God to visit the killers of Olaitan Oyerinde and those who according to him, planned and caused the accident that killed three journalists.

“They have killed my son (Olaitan), killed three journalists but I will stop crying because the blood of those they killed will hunt them. My mother never ate any child, and I have never killed, so no body can kill me but God will punish the killers and the god father that presides over the killing of innocent children,” he added.
