Mimiko, Army chief, CP shocked over Ikare banks’ robbery

AKURE—SECURITY chiefs in Ondo  State, yesterday, expressed shock at the bombing of three banks in Ikare area of the state during which five persons were killed.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko, the Brigade Commander in the state, Brigadier-General Dan Alli and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgar Nanakumo, expressed shock over the level of damage done to the affected banks and the use of sophisticated dynamite to gain access into the banks.

They spoke when the governor led them to pay a condolence visit to the monarch of the town,  Olukare of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Akadiri Momoh and the people of the town over Monday night’s  robbery attack.

Gov. Mimiko restated the commitment of his administration to continue to provide adequate security for life and property  in the state.

Mimiko assured that the capacity of security agencies in the state would be increased with a view to empowering them to face future challenges.

He promised that the major road in the town would be widened and provided with steady light to avert the frequent darkness experienced by the people in the night.

Oba Momoh, in his remarks, thanked the governor for always responding to the plights of the people of the state, especially for being mindful of his people in times of difficulties.

Mean time, hundreds of Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party members were said to have defected to join the governorship aspirant of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ondo State, Dr. Olu Agunloye,  at the party’s headquarters in Ikare-Akoko.

The defectors were said to have been led by one Mr Ladi  Kutelu.
