WARRI – AS activities marking the silver jubilee coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse II, enters the eighth day, a Niger Delta youth activist, Monday Agbeyi, has called for greater co-operation between the Ijaw and the Itsekiri to show that they can truly live together as brothers and good neighbours in the region.

Agbeyi, who also is the Secretary of the Niger Delta Youth Movement, NDYM, spoke  yesterday at Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State at a briefing, said the coronation anniversary should be a rallying point for both ethnic groups to show love and brotherliness.

He said Saturday’s “royal regatta is one event in the entire ceremony that is set to show- case the rich cultural heritage of the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo people of the region and it is therefore an epoch making event designed to enliven the spirit of all spectators without regard to ethnic nationality.”

He applauded the enthusiasm with which all the five ethnic nationalities in the state had participated in all the activities so far and appealed to them to come en-mass for the royal regatta holding at the Warri river.

According to him, security arrangement had been concluded to ensure the safety of everyone during the 200 boats display.
