In this period under review, the harmony between Governor Idris Wada and his deputy, Arc. Yomi Awoniyi has never been doubted. Their relationship has worked perfectly well with all the positive benefits associated with delegation.
One of Awoniyi’s responsibilities is the chairmanship of the State Boundary Committee, giving him the duty of ensuring peaceful co – existence among neighboring communities within and outside the State.
Awoniyi has also had to represent Governor Wada at some functions including representing him at a meeting of the Northern Governors Forum.
Within the first hundred days of Capt Wada’s administration, agriculture was set as a major objective of his Administration received considerable attention.
Receiving Dr. Dore Osemne, African Development Bank (ADB), country Director, Awoniyi pledged that the administration would meet all it responsibilities in paying counterpart funds to agencies that will affect lives. Arc. Awoniyi visited the Malete farms, Shonga farms, cashew and diary processing farms among other farms in the state.
Arc Awoniyi said the study was an eye opener for the State. He disclosed that in few years to come the farms when replicated in the State, will boost food production, create jobs and increase the earning power of rural dwellers.
Towards assisting the Kogi State NYSC Scheme in the State to meet its objectives, the Wada administration within its first first hundred days increased its subvention to the scheme to enable it meet its challenges.
Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, who stood in for Capt. Idris Wada, at the 2012 Batch ‘A’ Orientation course closing ceremony, also gave the scheme a Hilux Van and pledged the administration’s assistance towards the completion of all ongoing projects at the camp.
The beautification of the State Capital also got attention in the early days of the present administration. As chairman of the State Ad – Hoc Committee on the Beautification of Lokoja, Arc Awoniyi began the process to clean up the metropolis to make for cleanliness, to attract investors and for it to achieve its gateway status.
Addressing Kogi indigenes in Ilorin, Kwara State among other states visited to thank the people for their support at the election of 3rd December 2012,Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, assured the people that Capt. Wada’s administration will not compromise acceptable standards in appointing cabinet members.
He equally disclosed that Capt. Idris Wada will run a private sector driven economy, using tax holidays and other incentives to attract investors.
The present administration also through Arc Awoniyi in its Good Friday and Easter messages promised equal support to religious group, called for sacrifice and love by indigenes of the State to enable.
