AKURE— TRADITIONAL rulers from Akoko area of Ondo State, yesterday, denied the much- orchestrated “Akoko Agenda” ahead of the governorship election in the state.

Some governorship aspirants in the opposition parties have been saying it is the turn of the Akokos to present the next government.

The Obas, therefore, declared their support for the present administration in the state.

The Zaki of Arigidi-Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area, said the people of the area would not isolate themselves from other parts of the state.

Oba Olanipekun spoke at Okeagbe when members of a group, “Akoko for Mimiko” led by its Coordinator, Gani Dauda, who is the member representing Akoko Northwest/Akoko Northeast Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives visited the  Obas from the communities.

He said: “We are not aware of any Akoko Agenda, nothing like that. Why should we isolate ourselves to prosecute a parochial agenda?

“If we want to achieve something in this state it has to be within the framework of the entire state, we cannot be part of any parochial agenda. We are ready to work hand in hand with other parts of the state to ensure its development.”

The monarch , however, urged government to promote the traditional rulers from the local government area, many of who were still on grade “D”.

Dauda, whose team visited the four local government areas in Akokoland, said the group was put together to enable Akokos come together and support Mimiko to continue his good works.
