The Rotary Club of Oke Mosan Golden, has carried out a one-day Maternal and Child Health Care Project at the Erunbe Primary Health Centre, Ilogbo, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The programme was put together to tackle maternal and child health challenges in underserved communities of the State.
The outreach, which targeted residents of Ilogbo, Erunbe and surrounding communities, offered free medical consultations, antenatal checkups, health education, and nutrition services to expectant mothers.
The initiative emphasized the Rotary International focus area on maternal and child health, reinforcing the club’s commitment to service above self.
Speaking on the objectives of the programme, President of the Club, Rotarian Ishaq Taiwo Adegboye, said access to quality healthcare should not be a privilege but a basic right for all.
“This outreach is part of our strategic drive to improve community health and reduce maternal and child mortality,” he said.
A key highlight of the programme was health talk delivered by Rotarian (Pharm.) Temitope Ijaola and Mrs. Oluseye, both of whom addressed critical issues such as maternal nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization importance, and personal hygiene.
Their engaging and practical sessions drew commendations from participants.
Project awareness and community mobilization were led by Club Adviser, Rotarian Dr. Adegoke Ogunwoolu, who played a pivotal role in ensuring grassroots participation.
The event also featured cash donation to eight newly delivered pregnant women, distribution of various delivery kits and general health screening.
Volunteers and health workers commended the Rotary Club of Oke Mosan for their thoughtfulness and community spirit.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the intervention from the Rotary Club of Oke Mosan Golden.
