OSOGBO— OSUN State Government, yesterday, said it recovered N310 million from contractors who were paid by the past administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola for jobs  not done.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice,  Mr. Wale Afolabi, said  this when he appeared before the House  of Assembly to explain why the government failed to implement the white paper on the failed contracts.

It will be recalled that Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the inception of his administration set up a contract review committee to look into the payment of all contracts awarded by the past administration and level of compliance with the contracts terms.

The committee, at the end of its investigations, said it discovered that billions of naira was paid to sub-contractors who failed to supply materials or execute such contracts.

Afolabi told the House Committee on Judiciary that one of the contractors who failed to perform returned a cheque of N250 million while another returned N60 million  to the government.

He said the government was taking its time in implementing the white paper to uphold the rule of law and also not to be seen to be witch-hunting anybody.
