Ika South Local Government Area,(LGA) Chairman, Jerry Ehiwarior, weekend flagged-off the 2nd Round of the National Immunization Plus Days, NIPDs, (Kick Polio Out of Delta) as part of his administration’s effort to boost the health of residents of particularly the children.

The event, which took place at the Alisimie Health Centre, Alisimie, Agbor, was witnessed by health workers from the local government, State health officers and community stakeholders.

Speaking, the LG Chairman urged parents, guardians and other stakeholders to participate in the exercise which is very germane to the well being of the larger society.

According to him, “The National Immunization Plus Days Campaign is an important initiative aimed at vaccinating children aged 0-5 years in a bold and deliberate effort to kick Polio out of Ika South Local Government Area.”

Ehiwario particularly implored parents to ensure that their children and wards were fully immunized to save them from the deadly disease of polio.

The Chairman urged them to increase the tempo of awareness and ensure that the children are protected, assuring that the fight to kick out polio from Ika South was a collective one.

He lauded the health team for their unwavering commitment  to ensuring that the exercise was a success, and assured that Ika South Local Government under his watch, would  continue to support health programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.

On his part, Chief Augustine Apaokwueze, Agbasogun of Agbor, commended Ehiwarior, for the achievements his administration had recorded since assumption of office a year ago.

He disclosed that the leadership of Alisimie community had embarked on what he term, “strategic” community advocacy in the battle against polio in the area.

The Agbosogun added, ‘We are very grateful to our wonderful and highly performing Council Chairman who has not rested on his oars in the pursuit of a better and prosperous Ika South.”

The Vice Chairman of Ika South, who also functions as Supervisor for Health, Mrs Glory Amamosa – Onyeagbor, hailed her boss, Engr. Ehiwarior, as a proactive leader whose development imprints, she said, were ubiquitous across the LGA.

She appreciated the Chairman for his strong support for the health department, and promised to always work, with officers of the department, to enthrone a healthy Ika South.
