Pharmaceutical firm supports rural community with free drugs in Ogun

Mr. Varkey Verghese, MD, Jawa International Ltd.

A leading pharmaceutical company, Jawa International Ltd (manufacturers of Jawaron Blood Tonic) donated Over-the-Counter drugs to support an outreach programme on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Agoro community in Atan-Ota, Ogun State.

The outreach powered by Serah Olaniyan Initiative (SOI), is a nonprofit organization that gives food, clothes and medical supplies to the aged and vulnerable people in rural communities.

The initiator of the project, Mrs. Olaniyan, said a lot of rural areas are lacking in terms of social welfare, and this outreach is trying to also support government efforts in reaching out to the needy through private efforts from donors and sponsors.

She disclosed further “although, we can not reach everyone, but we operate in remote areas by giving out food items, drugs, free medical tests and clothing to the vulnerable. This is a self funded initiative, with the support of well meaning people”.

Speaking at the outreach program in Atan-Ota, she said:

“We are grateful to Jawa International Ltd for their support. Many residents of Agoro community benefited from our free Blood Pressure tests, and we also distributed drugs like blood tonics, cough syrups, malaria drugs amongst others.”

Mrs. Olaniyan used the opportunity to also appeal to well meaning individuals and corporate organizations to assist with relief materials so that vulnerable people in other interior communities can benefit from the programme.
