Ibadan is about to experience a night like no other, a celebration of language, culture, food, fashion, and laughter, all for a good cause. The KG Language School is proud to announce its first-ever Cultural Fusion Evening, set to take place on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

The fundraising event is part of the school’s annual commitment to education and diversified learning in Nigeria. More than just a fundraiser, this event is a bold statement about unity through diversity. Guests will be treated to a showcase of world cultures through art that combine elements of African culture, and the cultures of the languages offered at the language center in music, painting, fashion, and cuisine.

One of the main attractions of the evening is a hilarious and heartwarming surprise, the unveiling of the KG Language School’s linguistic project: an international twist on Nigeria’s beloved classic, Aki and Pawpaw. The film has been split into five ten-minute segments, each dubbed entirely in a different foreign language: French, German, Mandarin, Spanish, and Arabic, all done by students at the KG Language School themselves.

“There will be English subtitles, of course,” says co-founder Oluwakemisola Adeusi with a laugh. “But trust me, even if you don’t catch every word, the joy, the humor, and the beauty of cross-cultural storytelling will surprise you. You’ve never seen Aki and Pawpaw like this.” “It’s not about perfection,” one of the organizers said. “It’s about boldness. The willingness to step into another culture and invite that culture into your own. That’s what we’re trying to celebrate.”

The event will also include live performances, interactive art, a mini fashion parade, and food tastings from at least five different countries. And for those who might be wondering, light refreshments will be available, all included in your ticket. Tickets cost ₦2,000 per person and can be purchased ahead of the event at kglangaugeschool.com or at the venue. Everyone is welcome, from students to families, artists to academics, and anyone curious about the world and eager to give back.

“We wanted to do something fun, yes, but also meaningful,” says co-founder Gift Iyioku. “This is not just a party. It is a way to celebrate our students, amplify their work, and give something back to the communities that raised us.”

Half of the proceeds from ticket sales will go toward supporting language learners at The KG Language School, helping provide scholarships, textbooks, and community-based learning resources. The other half will go to the Goodness and Grace Foundation, a grassroots initiative that brings volunteer teachers into underserved rural communities, helping children learn core subjects and build brighter futures.
