OWERRI – The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has warned students against engaging in cultism and drug abuse, stressing that such vices could ruin their lives and future.

CP Danjuma gave the warning on Thursday during a visit to City Primary and Secondary Schools, Owerri, as part of events marking the 41st anniversary of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

Addressing the students, the Commissioner emphasized the critical role of young people in nation-building and encouraged them to focus on their education and strive to become worthy ambassadors of their families, schools, and the state.

He described cultism and drug abuse as major threats to personal development and societal progress, noting that early involvement in such activities often leads to devastating consequences.

The outreach, according to CP Danjuma, aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of cultism and substance abuse, while also reinforcing the importance of strong police-community relations.

He was accompanied by the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, who reiterated the police’s commitment to deepening community engagement through proactive youth programs.

Also speaking, the Imo State Chairman of the PCRC, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, urged students to be agents of positive change within their communities. He encouraged school principals to establish PCRC clubs in secondary schools to help instill good moral values among students.

In her remarks, the Principal of City Secondary School, Mrs. A.C. Ikwunezi, expressed gratitude to the visiting team, describing the session as highly impactful. She lauded the police and PCRC for their proactive engagement with the youth and pledged the school’s continued support for similar initiatives.
