President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to declare open the Nigerian international convention of Institute of Directors, IoD.

The event, billed for the International Conference Centre, Abuja, comes up on Thursday, May 10, 2012.

A statement issued by IoD’s Director-General, Mr. Akin Ajayi, said the convention, with the theme, “Good Governance for Business Sustainability”, would also be graced by top business leaders and technocrats across West Africa, including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman, Visafone Communications, Mr. Jim Ovia, and CEO, Nestoil Plc, Dr. Ernest Azudialu.

Others are Chief Stella Okoli, CEO, Emzor Pharmaceuticals Limited and Soji Apampa of  Convention for Business Integrity, CBI.

There will also be high flying young Nigerian entrepreneurs such as Engr. Biyi Ismail, CEO, NIT Group and Mr. Kayode Thomas, CEO, Bell Oil and Gas who will discuss the topic, “Doing Business in Nigeria: Transformational Agenda.”

The statement said aside  from the fact that the delegates from the IoD UK will be led by Mr. Simon Walker, the UK Director-General, other IoD international networks will also be represented at the Convention.

Founder of the UK fastest growing airlines, Easy Jet Airlines, Sir Stello Haji-loannou, will share his thoughts on how his company became a world-class company in less than two decades.

Topics to be considered at the convention includes, Entrenching Corporate Governance Principles: Solution to virile economy; Policy Reversals: A threat to Economic Growth and Business Development; Good Governance: Catalyst to Local and Direct Foreign Investment; Doing Business in Nigeria: From Indigenous to a Global brand; Cost of Governance: Implications for the Nigerian Entrepreneurs.

Top notch companies around the world will also be exhibiting various products at the convention.
