…Congratulates Newly Elected Town Union Executives of His Community

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has been commended for his commitment to the development of traditional institutions and peace-building efforts across communities in the state.

The Traditional Ruler of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna Jnr, expressed his appreciation in a congratulatory press statement to the newly elected executives of the Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Town Union on Sunday.

Igwe Ogbonna acknowledged Governor Mbah’s unrelenting commitment to grassroots development and strengthening traditional institutions.

“The community’s recent peaceful election of a President General and the recognition of a traditional ruler—both happening for the first time in over 25 years—is a remarkable achievement made possible through the Governor’s leadership,” he stated.

The monarch highlighted that for more than two decades, Ogugu Ntu-egbenese operated without a President General or a recognized traditional ruler. He praised Governor Mbah’s intervention for restoring leadership and stability to the community.

He also congratulated Engr. Ben Udeh, the newly elected President General of Ogugu Progressives Union General Assembly (OPUGA), describing his victory as a reflection of the people’s trust and confidence. Igwe Ogbonna expressed optimism that Engr. Udeh’s proven track record of community service would bring positive changes.

Furthermore, he extended his gratitude to the Enugu State Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters, led by Deacon Okey Ogbodo, for their proactive role in ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process in the community. He noted that the Ministry’s fair handling of community affairs was instrumental to the peaceful outcome of the election.

The monarch urged all sons and daughters of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese, both at home and abroad, to unite and support the new leadership, reaffirming the palace’s readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to promote peace, development, and progress in the community.

The Statement Reads: “I, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna Jnr, Ubojene II of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom, heartily congratulate Engr. Ben Udeh on his overwhelming victory during the just-concluded election of the Ogugu Progressives Union General Assembly (OPUGA), held on Saturday at Ogugu Central School Field, Amanabo. His emergence as President General is a clear show of confidence and support from the people, and I am certain he will serve with purpose, dedication, and sincerity.”

The monarch noted that Engr. Ben Udeh’s victory ushers in a new chapter in the community’s history, commending his leadership journey as one defined by service and commitment to community growth. He expressed confidence that Udeh’s experience would bring positive changes to the community.

Igwe Ogbonna also praised Deacon Okey Ogbodo and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Matters for their fairness and proactive measures that ensured peace during the electoral process.

Special commendations were reserved for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his exceptional focus on grassroots development and the revitalization of traditional institutions.

“Under his watch, Ogugu Ntu-egbenese has achieved what seemed impossible for more than 25 years; we now have both a traditional ruler and a President General. Governor Mbah’s leadership has brought peace to a community that had known division for decades,” Igwe Ogbonna remarked.

He described the development as monumental, noting that the community is now experiencing renewed unity and identity. He pledged the community’s complete support for the Governor’s administration and its vision for building a better Enugu State.

The monarch called on all sons and daughters of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese, both locally and in the diaspora, to rally behind Engr. Ben Udeh and his executives. He stressed the importance of unity and peace for the community’s development, reaffirming his commitment to providing support and guidance for stability and growth.
