Nigerians laud Tinubu’s objectivity, fairness in appointments

ABUJA — A cross-section of Nigerians has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his transparency, fairness, and objectivity in making appointments since assuming office on May 29, 2023. Many observers have noted that his approach marks a significant departure from the practices of previous administrations, characterized by lopsided appointments and perceived nepotism.

Since taking office, President Tinubu has demonstrated a keen ability to select appointees purely on merit, while still upholding the principles of federal character. His decisions have been widely regarded as fair and inclusive, silencing long-standing criticisms of regional bias and favoritism in government appointments.

For the first time in Nigeria’s recent history, concerns over lopsided appointments, nepotism, and clannishness have significantly reduced, replaced by widespread jubilation that cuts across social, religious, and political divides.

These sentiments were echoed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Somi Solar and Electricals Limited, Engr. Samson Okpe, in a congratulatory message to Amb. Solomon Adodo following his recent appointment as Board Member, North Central Development Commission by President Tinubu.

Amb. Adodo, a former President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), is recognized for his grassroots mobilization skills and his advocacy for youth inclusion in governance. His non-violent approach to policy reforms and commitment to mobilizing Nigerian youths for positive engagement has been widely acknowledged.

According to Engr. Okpe, the appointment of Amb. Adodo is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment.

“Under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, youths are no longer the leaders of tomorrow; they are leading presently and are strategically represented in ministries, departments, parastatals, and commissions. With the appointment of Adodo, Mr. President has ended the age-long policy of recycling the old generation into leadership positions,” Okpe stated.

He further emphasized that President Tinubu’s recognition of Amb. Adodo’s contributions to civil society, his passion for youth empowerment, and his promotion of good governance through strategic interventions highlight the administration’s merit-based approach to governance.

“Mr. President has made a bold statement that sacrifice, patriotism, and dedication will never go unrewarded,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, Engr. Okpe urged Nigerian youths to continue partnering with the Tinubu administration, which he described as genuinely committed to youth empowerment. He also advised them to shun the antics of opposition politicians who, according to him, employ blackmail as their weapon of choice.

“This administration has shown sincerity in youth empowerment. Nigerian youths should support this vision and resist distractions from political elements seeking power through divisive tactics,” Okpe concluded.
