The Director General of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Oluwatosin Francis Shoga, has affirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is actively repositioning Nigeria’s economy to secure the future of young Nigerians.
Shoga made this statement during the City Boy Movement Stakeholders Engagement held in Owerri, Imo State on Saturday. He urged Nigerians—especially the youth—to exercise patience to fully benefit from the ongoing economic reforms and repositioning initiatives already being rolled out across various ministries, agencies, and parastatals.
Shoga expressed surprise that many young Nigerians are still unaware of the numerous initiatives designed to cushion the effects of economic reforms, which are aimed at making Nigeria a better place for all.
He highlighted some of President Tinubu’s key initiatives: Nigeria Youth Investment Fund: Presidential approval for the fund, with ₦60 billion already released through the Central Bank of Nigeria under the Agricultural Investment and Small and Medium Enterprises Scheme (AGSMEIS).
Student Loan Scheme: Over 500 students across various tertiary institutions have benefited from the scheme.
₦50 Billion ASUU Allowance: The President approved ₦50 billion to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as earned allowances, ending the frequent industrial actions by the union.
Additional ₦50 Billion for Student Loan and Credit Corporation: This fund, partly sourced from proceeds recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), aims to bolster educational access.
Skill-Up Artisans Programme:
A transformative program designed to empower artisans with modern skills.
Nigerian Youth Academy & National Youth Talent Export Programme:
These initiatives are building future leaders and preparing Nigerian youth for global markets.
“This administration does not just talk about youth empowerment—President Tinubu is doing it,” Shoga emphasized.
Shoga urged Nigerian youths, especially those in Imo State, to take advantage of these initiatives for personal and national growth. He also encouraged them to join the Renewed Hope train and become part of the City Boy Movement, stressing that the youth are the backbone of any successful nation.
The Imo State Director of the City Boy Movement, Chief Goodluck Nwaneri, also commended President Tinubu for repositioning the country to create a better future for young Nigerians. He called on youths to seize the opportunities for empowerment provided by the federal government.
“The Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has done well for our society. He has been the president that has carried all the youth along. You can see massive youth empowerment going on in Nigeria,” Nwaneri remarked.
Also speaking, Mr. Magnus Okorie, Councillor for Owerre Ebeiri Ward, Orlu Council Area of Imo State, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his youth-friendly initiatives. He appealed to state governors to ensure that the President’s initiatives trickle down to the grassroots for maximum impact.
The event concluded with the inauguration of the group’s State Working Committee in Imo State.
