The Veterans Sports Club Abuja has ushered in a new era of leadership following the successful election of its executive team on April 12, 2025.

The newly elected officials have rolled out a robust manifesto focused on strengthening the club’s mission and expanding its influence on national and international fronts.

At the heart of the new administration’s agenda is a plan to conduct a comprehensive review of the club’s constitution.

The move aims to provide the organization with a full legal identity and ensure it aligns structurally with the broader vision for veteran sports development in Nigeria.

The leadership also announced its commitment to implementing short-term and long-term development plans to ensure sustained growth and innovation within the club and beyond.

In addition to internal reforms, a rebranding strategy is set to be launched, which will reposition the Veterans Sports Club Abuja for a stronger presence on the national stage and among the global veteran sports community.

Increasing membership and engaging young people is another top priority for the new administration, with plans to promote youth participation in sports and create mentorship opportunities that connect seasoned athletes with the next generation.

Recognizing the importance of nurturing specific sports, the new leadership has singled out table tennis as a key focus area.

They have pledged to channel resources and energy into developing the sport across the country, aiming to elevate Nigeria’s profile in the discipline.

To drive these initiatives, several standing committees have been formed. The Constitution Review Committee is headed by Bar. Ernest Anichebe Nwoye, LLM, with Otunba Rotimi Oluwatayo and Obi Eustace Maduka serving as members.

The Infrastructure Development Committee includes Engr. Ugboma Okechukwu Basil, Engr. Osita Nwosu, and Mr. Idowu Mohammed. Meanwhile, the Welfare Committee is chaired by Hon. Jachike Stephen N., with Chief Charles Ibefuna and Maris Chukwuemeka Inyekwe as members.

The newly elected executive team for the 2025 term is led by Chief Tony Umejiofor (Ezeudo) as President.

He is joined by Mr. Jide Tiwo as Vice President, Mr. Maduka Obi as General Secretary, and Mr. Idowu Mohammed as Assistant General Secretary.

The team also includes Mr. Eseie Osuide as Financial Secretary, Mr. Chibueze Ejimkeonye as Treasurer, and Mr. Austin Akpunonu as Public Relations Officer. Mr. Uzor Ajunwa has been elected Provost, while Mr. Charles Onyinyechi Ibefune (Sunny Nteje) serves as the Social and Welfare Officer.

Mr. John Bosco Udeagha takes up the position of Sports Director, with Mr. Innocent Eze as Club Manager.

The club extended heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing Executive Committee led by Barrister Tony Iro Nnachi.

It said under his leadership, the club experienced steady progress and built a solid foundation for future advancement.

With a clear mandate and a passionate team at the helm, the new leadership has expressed its readiness to engage members, foster partnerships, and position the Veterans Sports Club Abuja as a beacon for veteran sports development across Nigeria and beyond.
