The South East Youths Stakeholders Forum, SEYSF, has commended the federal government under President Bola Tinubu for the activation of the South East Digital Bridge Institute (Enugu Campus) to commence Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for the youths and people of the region.

The Enugu Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) located along Nike-Nsukka road was established by the past federal government administration but the facilities were left to rot and cannibalized for about 10 years that it was not commissioned.

Joy however came the way of the residents when early this year, the President of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Daser David, accompanied by other members of the Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy came to Enugu for the activation of the abandoned institute which its operation is bailed to commence later this April.

Commending the effort of the federal government, President of SEYSF, Mazi Ezenwa Onyirimba applauded the Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tunji, as well as the President of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Daser David, for their timely intervention and swift commencement of the South East (Enugu Campus) of the institute.

Onyirimba on behalf of the south east youths described the move as a landmark achievement that demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering youth development in the South East region.

“We wholeheartedly commend the Honourable Minister and the leadership of the Digital Bridge Institute for their proactive steps in ensuring the immediate take-off of the Enugu campus. This is a clear indication of visionary leadership and inclusive governance,” Onyirimba said.

The Forum emphasized that the establishment of the DBI Enugu campus will provide young people across the region with access to cutting-edge digital education, skills acquisition, and capacity-building opportunities necessary for thriving in today’s global digital economy.

SEYSF reaffirmed its support for the initiative and called on all stakeholders, including South East Development Commission, The Deputy Speaker House of Representative, State Governments, Traditional institutions, and the Private sector, to collaborate towards the growth and sustainability of the project.

“This development is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for technological advancement in the South East. It will empower our youths, create jobs, and stimulate innovation,” the Forum added.
