… Salutes President Tinubu’s Commitment to Excellence and Youth Inclusiveness
Hon. Valentine Nneoma Oyemike, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Ndokwa West Candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections, has congratulated his former classmate, Prof. Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam, on his appointment as the Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved the appointment which took effect from April 3, 2025, in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act, 2008 (as amended).
Oyemike, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, described the appointment as “a well-earned recognition of capacity, loyalty, and vision,” while also commending President Tinubu’s continued effort to bring competent hands into the administration.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my classmate and friend, Prof. Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam, on his well-deserved appointment as MD of Ajaokuta Steel. We were classmates at Government Secondary School, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Class of ’99, and even then, his brilliance and leadership traits were clear to all,” Oyemike stated.
The APC stalwart further applauded President Tinubu for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s industrial revival by choosing technocrats with proven track records for strategic roles.
He also hailed the President’s deliberate efforts in promoting youth inclusiveness in governance, noting that the appointment of young and capable professionals like Prof. Nasir signals a bold step toward a more progressive and dynamic public service.
Until his new appointment, Prof. Abdulsalam served as Technical Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Steel Development, and previously as Special Assistant (Academics) to the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).
Oyemike expressed confidence that Prof. Nasir would bring to bear his deep understanding of the steel sector to reposition Ajaokuta Steel Company as a centerpiece of Nigeria’s industrial agenda.
“The task ahead is enormous, but I trust in Prof. Nasir’s ability to drive a new era of productivity and innovation that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of this administration,” he added.
He prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine direction for the new MD as he assumes duty.
