Oputu, Otuaro spearheading devt, peace in Niger Delta – Group

The Initiative For Rural Communities Development in Niger Delta ( IRCDND) and Indigenous Peoples of Niger Delta ( IPND), disclosed that Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme and General Aroni Oputu, Chairman, Phase 1 Ex-militants of Presidential Amnesty Programme, were spearheading actualization of sustainable development and peace in the oil rich region.

The group stated this when General Aroni Oputu paid a condolence visit to His Royal Highness, Selky Kile Torughedi, alias Young Shall Grow in Bayelsa, a revered traditional ruler and staunch supporter of the Niger Delta’s development agenda.

In a statement on Thursday, signed by Tamaraudenyefa Victor Edumunanagha, Director of Agriculture Research and Technology, the groups said Otuaro and Oputu , have unveiled a bold initiative to declare the region “safe for investment” through enhanced security, peacebuilding, and economic partnerships.

According to the group, there is need for grassroots engagement with leaders and traditional institutions in advancing regional stability paving the way for foreign direct investment (FDI) in energy, agriculture, and infrastructure.

“ Gen. Aroni Oputu and Dr. Dennis Otuaru, are committed to addressing systemic challenges such as youth unemployment, environmental degradation, and infrastructure deficits.
