The President of the International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA) Mr Serumu Igberadja, has said there is equal opportunities for women in Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, trades and employment.
As part of IVETA’s commitment to promote and advance TVET globally, Igberadja has therefore advised women to key into TVET for sustainable livelihood and development.
He further stated that there is no trade in TVET that is for men alone and he is encouraging more women to take TVET trade courses that are dominated by men because both women and men have equal position and opportunities in TVET.
He stated this during his visit to Malta and Italy, as part of his working visit to select educational institutions, TVET providers, and TVET equipment manufacturers and to strengthening global partnerships to promote TVET, Technology Exchange, Teacher Development, and Youths Development.
To achieve gender equality in TVET, he appealed to TVET stakeholders, government, and TVET equipment manufacturers, international organizations, and community leaders to address the gender discrimination and gap in TVET.
Igberadja also called for collaboration with TVET organizations, government, international organizations and industries in addressing the challenges to quality TVET for sustainable skills development globally.
He therefore thanked women role models in TVET for their active roles in making TVET a noble profession and assure of IVETA’s commitment in supporting women in TVET through active engagements, advocacy, and collaboration in making TVET works for women.
