Daughter of late Vanguard Staff, McPhilips Nwachukwu, was among outstanding writers and individuals that were honoured during the second annual African Writers Tribe Awards held last week.

Adaeze McPhillips received the Author of the Year award alongside Dr. Chigozie Anuli Mbadugha, Apostle Ifeoma Ezeneehe, Success Sobulachi Maxwell, Dr. Lesedi Gaeemelwe and Tukur Mohammed Malgwi.

The annual African Writers Tribe Awards was held at Rock View Hotels, Festac Town, Lagos. It was organized by the founder and tribe leader Josephine Oghenekevbe Ogufere, to celebrate outstanding contributions across various professional fields, including literature, media, leadership, real estate, cybersecurity, and robotics.

The ceremony commenced with a prophetic declaration on literature by keynote Speaker Bishop Priscilla Otuya, setting an inspiring tone for the day. Renowned filmmaker and storyteller Andy Abulu also delivered an engaging speech, sharing insights into the evolving landscape of African storytelling and beyond.

Highlight of the Award event was the recognition of young and adult professionals excelling in their respective industries. Fiona Dozie Ibe received the prestigious Overall Best Transformational Leader award (Kids Category), recognizing her exceptional contributions and promise as a young leader.

Other winners include; Wisdom Kwati – Phenomenal Realtor of the Year; Hon. Kolawole Adelegan – Transformational Leader of the Year; Musa Mohammed Malgwi – Media Maestro of the Year (Children’s Category); Eva Etese – Media Maestro of the Year; Engr. Dr. Valentine Buraimoh – Transformational Leader of the Year; Hon. George Adegeye – Transformational Leader of the Year; Apostle Hephzibah N. Leonard – Creative Luminary of the Year; Michael Nosiri – Media Maestro of the Year; Awele Mary-Rose Ilusanmi – Exceptional Leader of the Year; Dr. Ngozi Ebubedike – Creative Luminary of the Year; Fiona Dozie One – Exceptional Leader of the Year (Children’s Category); Adeyemi Afolayan Adesola – Cyber Security Analyst of the Year; Adeyemi Afolayan Adesola – Cyber Security Inventor of the Year; Gabriel S. Weah – Creative Luminary of the Year; Oghenrobo Dozie Ibe – Phenomenal Realtor of the Year; Ezekiel Eduolabanjo Edu – Roboticist of the Year; Israel Destiny – Roboticist of the Year; Isaac Adole – Creative Luminary of the Year; and Empress Blessing – Creative Luminary of the Year (Children’s Category).

The African Writers Tribe Awards continue to be a beacon of excellence, fostering a vibrant culture of recognition for African achievers in diverse fields. This year’s event further strengthened the organization’s mission to nurture and amplify African voices in literature, technology, real estate, leadership, and media.
