The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has described the resolution of the crisis in the State House of Assembly as a victory for democracy.

In a statement, APC spokesperson Oluseye Oladejo congratulated the people of Lagos, members of the State House of Assembly, and the party leadership for successfully resolving the dispute.

“The crux of the disagreement was to draw public and party attention to certain internal issues, which tested the APC’s well-established conflict resolution mechanism,” Oladejo stated.

“As a truly democratic party, we refrained from interfering in legislative affairs, respecting the independence of the House. However, when the conflict persisted and defied other solutions, the House sought guidance from the party just a few days ago.”

He noted that 39 of the Assembly’s members were elected on the APC platform and remain committed to delivering on their mandate. The party met with all members, offering solutions that prioritized stability and the state’s best interests.

“Our role was purely advisory and only took effect when adopted within the House,” he added. “We commend the lawmakers for setting aside personal interests in favor of collective goals.”

Oladejo emphasized that the incident had strengthened the Assembly, with members now more united and dedicated to serving Lagos.

“This outcome is a victory for democracy and highlights the sophistication of Lagos politics, which remains ahead of common standards,” he concluded. “The opposition rejoiced too soon over what was merely a storm in a teacup and should now reconsider its propaganda efforts.”
