Seasoned chemical engineer and climate change mitigation expert, Stephen Akpasi, has called on governments and industries to prioritize climate adaptation strategies to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change.

Disclosing this in a statement recently, he underscored the importance of proactive measures to address the challenges posed by climate change.

According to Akpasi, “Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and it requires a collective effort to combat its effects.

He emphasized that climate change has severe consequences, including rising global temperatures, more frequent natural disasters, and unpredictable weather patterns.

“It is essential that we take immediate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and develop sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change,” he added.

Akpasi noted that investing in advanced materials research can enhance catalytic efficiency and adsorption capacity for carbon capture.

He also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to drive real-world applications.

Akpasi highlighted the need for scaling up sustainable carbon capture technologies to reduce industrial CO₂ emissions, adding: “This can be achieved through policy incentives and investment in green technologies, which will not only reduce emissions but also create new economic opportunities.”

Notably, Akpasi has made significant contributions to the field of climate change mitigation, including the development of high-performance adsorbents for CO₂ capture and storage.

His research has also focused on advancing catalytic processes for efficient energy conversion and lower emissions. Through his work, Akpasi aims to promote sustainable energy solutions and strengthen knowledge transfer and innovation in the field.

In addition, Akpasi emphasized the importance of promoting cleaner energy solutions and strengthening knowledge transfer and innovation by supporting emerging scientists and fostering industrial-academic partnerships.

He also pointed out that climate change adaptation strategies should be tailored to specific regions and industries, saying: “For instance, industries in Africa should prioritize climate adaptation strategies that address the unique challenges posed by climate change on the continent.”

Akpasi underscored the need for increased awareness and education on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, noting: “Raising awareness and educating stakeholders on the importance of climate action can help build a collective sense of responsibility and drive meaningful change.”

Akpasi emphasized the importance of developing sustainable solutions that integrate carbon-neutral technologies.

“By leveraging innovative technologies and materials, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a more sustainable future for all,” he concluded.

Akpasi is a chemical engineer with a strong passion for environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Delta State University in Nigeria and a master’s degree from the Durban University of Technology in South Africa, and is currently pursuing his PhD in chemical engineering.
