As I stepped into the office of Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, the Olu-Omo of Yewaland, I was struck by the aura of humility and warmth that surrounded him. It was a few days before his 55th birthday, and I had come to wish him well and discuss the challenges he had faced in the past year.

As we sat down, I couldn’t help but notice the numerous awards and recognition that adorned the walls of his office. They were a testament to his contributions to the society and his commitment to excellence.

Chief Egungbohun’s response to the defamation and propaganda he had faced was a masterclass in resilience and patriotism. “Allah is the Ultimate Sustainer,” he said. “He guides, protects, delivers, and blesses. Once you know the ulterior motives behind any challenges facing you, then such challenge is almost gone.”

He spoke about the allegations that had been leveled against him, including claims that he was involved in smuggling contrabands. “All those lies they told against me, using me as a lead, to discredit—in their own silly imaginations—the whole security architecture of this Sovereign Nation, all in their bids to cause anarchy in the land,” he said.

Despite the challenges he had faced, Chief Egungbohun remained committed to his values of patriotism, kindness, and generosity. “I am not wealthy,” he said. “It is just the way Allah wired me, simple! I will continue to give my widow’s mite to the underprivileged.”

As our conversation came to a close, Chief Egungbohun reflected on his life and legacy. “Alhamudulilahi!” he exclaimed. “On my birthday, the 3/3/25, God willing, as usual, my families, colleagues, and a few of you, my media friends, will join me to say thank you Allah for continuing to be my Sustainer.”

As I left his office, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by Chief Egungbohun’s story. He was a true patriot, a man of integrity, and a shining example of resilience in the face of adversity. His legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
