Hundreds of athletes drawn from Rotary Club Districts from across the country are participating in the 2025 Rotary Sports Festival (ROSEFEST), being hosted by Rotary District 9112, Ikeja. The games featuring 14 sports including Snookers, Scrabble, Chess, Draughts and Ayo Olopon. Others are, Table Tennis, Tennis, Athletics, Swimming and Volleyball, Football. Tug of War and Relay Race. The festival which kicked off February 28 ends March 7, with a dinner night.

Speaking during the opening ceremony at the Rotary Centre, Ikeja, chairman of the Rotary Sports Activities Committee, Alozie Nsirimobi said, “the festival unfolds as a celebration of camaraderie and inclusivity, fostering a sense of unity among participants.”

He said that his committee under the regime of Pioneer District 9112 Governor  Rtn. Olufemi Adenekan 2024/25 has expanded the scope of participation after the successes recorded in the maiden edition under the regime of former District Governor, Rtn Ifeyinwa Ejezie, 2023/2024.(District 9110 as it then was).

He said, “critical to the vision of ROSFEST is its alignment with the Rotary Strategic Priorities & Objectives: To increase our impact; To expand our Reach; To enhance Rotarians participation engagement and To increase our ability to adopt. These, we are already achieving with the increase in Rotarians and clubs’registration in the annual games.”

Corroborating, District Governor Adenekan said, “We are extending to other Rotary Districts. The winner of the golf event came from Port Harcourt. We are doing this to improve the mental health of our members. We take time out to unwind, compete under a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It is not a do-or-die affair; it’s all about fun.”

Since its inception last Rotary year 2023/2024, ROSFEST has grown in leaps and bounds.

It has attracted great corporate support and sponsorship.
