The United Methodist Church in Nigeria (UMCN) has distributed relief materials to communities affected by last year’s drought and victims of attacks in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The relief packages, comprising food and non-food items, aim to alleviate the hardship caused by severe crop failures and food shortages in the region.

During the distribution exercise over the weekend, the Lay Leader of the Central Nigeria Annual Conference of UMCN and Chairman of the Relief Distribution Committee, Godwin Ibrahim, emphasized the impact of the aid on struggling farmers.

“This support will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the drought,” he said. “We pray that God continues to bless everyone who contributed to making this possible.”

The District Superintendent of the church in Haske, Karim Lamido LGA, Rev. Iliya Elisha, described the relief effort as an expression of God’s love within the Christian community. He also extended gratitude to donors for their generosity and assured that all targeted beneficiaries across affected districts would receive their share of the relief materials.

The relief initiative was made possible through support from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Items distributed included rice, maize, beans, and clothing, among others.
