The Lekki corridor is set to explode with economic activity, thanks to a game-changing partnership forged by the Lagos State Government.

The alliance between Lekki Worldwide Investment Limited (LWIL) and Lagos Free Zone Development Company, orchestrated by the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI), promises to transform the region into a global business and industrial powerhouse, attracting a flood of investment and cementing Lagos’s position as West Africa’s economic epicenter.

A pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on Monday, February 24th, at the MCCTI headquarters, marks a watershed moment. This strategic collaboration leverages combined expertise and resources to turbocharge industrial growth, draw in international capital, and elevate Lagos’s competitive edge on the world stage.
Speaking, the Commissioner for MCCTI, Folashade Ambrose,, described the agreement as a “historic breakthrough,” a testament to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s visionary leadership.

“Today’s agreement represents a dynamic collaboration that will unlock the full economic potential of the Lekki corridor.”
She emphasised the partnership’s power to drive industrial innovation and attract global investors. “We are strengthening Lagos State’s position as a leading economic force in Africa.”

The partnership will fast-track the development of critical infrastructure: cutting-edge transport systems, reliable power, advanced telecommunications, and seamless logistics. These improvements will not only supercharge business operations but also drastically improve the quality of life for Lekki residents.

Speaking, the Managing Director and CEO of LWIL, Adeniyi Akinlusi, emphasised the power of collaboration, quoting an African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.”

He stressed that the MoU lays a solid foundation for long-term growth and significant economic benefits. “Our vision is to make Lekki a hub of global economic activity,” he stated.

Adesuwa Ladoja, MD and CEO of Lagos Free Zone, echoed this sentiment, calling the partnership a “game-changer.” While informal collaborations existed, this formal agreement elevates the relationship to a strategic, impactful level.

“We are fully committed to working with LWIL to achieve the ambitious goals outlined in the state and federal development agendas,” she affirmed.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has injected a $50 million equity investment into Lagos Free Zone Company, accelerating the development of Nigeria’s first deep-sea port-based private special economic zone.

This investment will bridge critical infrastructure gaps and attract a diverse range of businesses, bolstering Nigeria’s economic diversification.

President Bola Tinubu welcomed the IFC’s investment, calling it a “strong endorsement” of Nigeria’s economic trajectory and vital for sustainable growth.
