The southwest chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on Muslims to embody the finest virtues of Islam through their personal conduct during the sacred month of Ramadan.
In a heartfelt message welcoming the commencement of Ramadan, a month dedicated to spiritual reflection, prayer, and community bonding, Ajadi emphasised the importance of living out Islamic teachings rather than just preaching them.
According to him, Ramadan commemorates the time when the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad and serves as a period for deep introspection and a renewed commitment to faith.
In his message, Ajadi urged Muslims to seize the opportunity to practice the core values of Islam, such as kindness and compassion toward humanity.
He stated, “Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink from dawn to dusk; it is a time to reflect on our actions and to cultivate a greater fear of Allah while avoiding all evils that can harm humanity.”
Ajadi highlighted the significance of shared experiences during Ramadan, noting that the collective fasting unites rich and poor alike, fostering empathy and understanding among all members of society.
As Muslims embark on the month-long journey of fasting, he reminded them that Ramadan is also a time to refrain from all forms of wrongdoing.
“Let us share our blessings with the less fortunate; by doing so, Allah will multiply our rewards for good deeds,” he said.
Encouraging Muslims to exhibit the best qualities of Islam through their daily lives, Ajadi concluded, “This is a moment for introspection and a chance to apply the teachings of kindness and love for humanity. Let us embody the true spirit of Islam during this sacred season.”
