The Delta State Traditional Rulers Council has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on receiving the Governor of the Year Award from ThisDay Newspaper, Arise TV, and The Telegraph Newspaper.

In a five-point communiqué issued at the end of their monthly meeting in Asaba, the monarchs expressed delight that Governor Oborevwori was recognized for his achievements in infrastructure and prudent resource management. They described the honor as well-deserved and a morale booster for the governor.

Delivering the communiqué, Chairman of the Council and Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Major General Felix Mujakpuero (Rtd.), Orhue I, also extended congratulations to the Obi of Obior, Ofuokwu III, on his 50th coronation anniversary. He prayed for the continued good health, wisdom, and peaceful reign of the revered monarch.

Flanked by First Vice Chairman, SP Luke Kalanama VIII, and Second Vice Chairman, Agbogidi Henry Kikachukwu I, Ph.D., the council chairman urged residents of Delta State to adopt good sanitary habits to prevent outbreaks of communicable diseases.

The appeal follows a presentation by Dr. Mildred Okowa, the State Chief Epidemiologist, who emphasized the importance of clean environments and proper food storage in preventing diseases such as cholera and other airborne or waterborne illnesses.

She called on traditional rulers to sensitize their subjects on the dangers of harmful practices, including open defecation and unsanitary living conditions.

In a related development, the council also received Federal Commissioner for the National Population Commission, Mrs. Blessing Brume Ataguba, who briefed them on preparations for the 2025 Biometric/Digital Census.

She urged royal fathers to mobilize their subjects for a successful headcount, stressing the importance of an accurate census for national planning and development.

With these deliberations, the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting governance, public health initiatives, and national development programs for the benefit of all Deltans.
