Zynovox, a rising star in the Afro-Urban rap scene, is making waves by forging a unique sound that bridges the gap between Nigeria and the UK. His blend of authentic Nigerian storytelling with cutting-edge UK urban influences is captivating audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and he’s poised to redefine the genre.
Obinna Norbert Aziude, the artist behind Zynovox, has a story of perseverance and artistic evolution. His journey began in Enugu, Nigeria, where he first explored rap with the Better Get Best (B.G.B.) crew in 2011. Early experiences included setbacks and skepticism, forcing him to keep his passion hidden for a time. Despite these challenges, he pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from ESUT and later a master’s degree in the UK. Yet, the call of music remained.
In 2024, Zynovox returned to music with renewed focus and a clear vision. He describes his sound as a fusion of Afrobeat-infused rap, soulful R&B hooks, and the driving rhythms of UK urban music. This blend reflects his personal journey, weaving together the emotional depth of his Nigerian roots with the innovative spirit of the UK music scene. “I believe that every bar I spit is a reflection of my journey—each track a piece of my story,” Zynovox explains. His lyrics explore themes of struggle, resilience, love, and ambition, resonating with a new generation of fans.
His debut single, “Glory Bound,” released in late 2024, marked a powerful return to the rap landscape. Now, he’s preparing to release his highly anticipated EP, “Middle East,” on February 7, 2025. This project, produced with talents like Blaque Beats, MF Classic, and Omofaaji, showcases his versatility, incorporating rap, Afrobeat, R&B, and Amapiano elements. “Middle East” is not just a collection of songs; it’s a statement of intent, a declaration that Zynovox is here to stay and shape the future of Afro-Urban music.
“Every challenge I faced was a lesson that made me stronger,” Zynovox reflects. “My music isn’t just sound—it’s my truth. With ‘Middle East,’ I want to inspire anyone who’s ever been doubted to rise above and create their own destiny.”
Industry insiders who have followed Zynovox’s career, from his early freestyle sessions in Enugu to his current international presence, are excited about the upcoming EP. They recognize his authentic storytelling and innovative approach as key to his growing success. With “Middle East,” Zynovox is not just redefining his own career; he’s redefining Afro-Urban rap itself, bridging cultures and connecting with listeners through his powerful and relatable music.
