The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has confirmed all 27 Commissioner and Special Adviser nominees forwarded by Governor Umo Eno for approval.
The confirmation process, which began on February 10, 2025, following the governor’s letter to the House through Speaker Udeme Otong, concluded on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
While 20 nominees were confirmed during plenary on February 18, the remaining seven received approval during Thursday’s session, marking the completion of the screening exercise.
The confirmation followed the ratification of a report from the Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights & Public Petitions, presented by its chairman, Mr. Aniefiok Attah.
Presenting the report, Attah revealed that the committee did not receive any unfavorable petitions against the nominees, describing them as men and women of proven integrity who are qualified to serve in the State Executive Council.
In his remarks, Speaker Udeme Otong directed the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Nsikak Orok, to communicate the House’s decision to the governor for necessary action.
Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom citizens have begun speculating about which portfolios will be assigned to the newly confirmed appointees, particularly the new faces in the State Executive Council.
