ABUJA – A search party is underway across the nation regarding the case involving Sylvester Efoanimjor, a Christian man, and Alhaji Oseyem Musa, a former Christian who has now become a Muslim extremist.

The search is not confined to Agbor, Delta State, but is expanding as concerns for Sylvester’s safety grow.

Alhaji Oseyem has publicly expressed his grievances regarding Sylvester’s relationship with his daughter, Edith Oseyem.

In response, Joy Efoanimjor, Sylvester’s sister, has highlighted the distress her family is experiencing.

“We are living in fear. My brother’s life is in danger simply because he loves someone from a different faith,” she stated.

The situation escalated in December 2017, when Sylvester fled to an unknown location out of fear for his safety.

Joy revealed that she has also faced threats during her visits to see her brother’s baby, indicating a troubling pattern of intimidation aimed at preventing their family from connecting with Edith and her child.

“Every time I go to visit, I feel like I’m walking into a trap. It’s heartbreaking,” she added.

In a troubling turn of events, Alhaji Oseyem has mobilised community youths to search for Sylvester, seeking to execute jungle justice against him for allegedly being bisexual—an accusation that he claims is a taboo and a violation of local customs.

“This is not just about my daughter; it’s about our traditional values. We cannot allow someone who disrespects our traditions to be part of our family,” he stated.

The search party has struggled to locate Sylvester, raising further concerns about his well-being amid reports of escalating tensions.

Local residents have expressed their alarm, with neighbour Chinedu Okonkwo commenting, “It’s shocking that in this day and age, love can spark such hatred. We need to come together as a community, not tear each other apart.”

Amidst this turmoil, Joy is particularly worried about her brother’s fate. With their parents deceased, she is his only surviving family member, and the escalating situation weighs heavily on her heart as the search continues.
