Bauchi – The State Security Service, SSS, in Bauchi State has arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of the former Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, Mr. Ola Adeleke.
Adeleke was killed in his hotel room in Tafawa Balewa town following an attack by unknown gunmen in January, which also led to the death of nine other persons including an Army Lance Corporal and eight other civilians.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, said the suspects were arrested in Toro Local Government Area of the state about 2am yesterday.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off as one of them was being trailed with the mobile phone of the late DPO which was believed to have been stolen from him after the attack.
According to the source, one of the suspects used the DPO’s mobile telephone to call the Personal Assistant to the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikechukwu Aduba, adding that based on that, the men of SSS carried out investigation which led to the arrest of the suspects in an apartment in Toro Local Government Area.
The State Director of SSS declined to speak on the issue, saying investigation was still going on.
