Excitement is building as a sensational Nigeria music star, Tamunoimiebam Gift Cookey, popularly known as Pinqmilz, prepares to release his upcoming EP, ‘Hard Times Don’t Last’, set to drop next month. The artiste believes this project will resonate deeply with listeners, delivering messages of perseverance and hope.
Pinqmilz is an emerging force in the Nigerian music industry. Hailing from the ancient Opobo Kingdom, his passion for music began at just 13 years old. With a natural ability to create music without writing it down, he attributes his gift to his father, who was also a musician.
Growing up in a musically inclined household, Pinqmilz found inspiration in his family’s background and personal experiences. His father’s behavior toward him played a significant role in shaping his artistic expression. These emotions and life experiences fuel his music, making it deeply personal and relatable.
The Afrobeat crooner says he draws inspiration from listening to other artists, exploring nature, and even jotting down thoughts, adding that his process involves experimenting with melodies, playing instruments, and using music software to craft a sound that feels authentic.
“I draws inspiration from some of Nigeria’s biggest stars that include Davido, Wizkid, and Shalipopi, whose energy and style influence my sound. I also admires 1da Banton and Dandizzy for their unique approach to music. While I haven’t collaborated outside the music industry yet, I am open to exploring new creative partnerships that could bring fresh perspectives to my work. I believe in striking a balance between structure and spontaneity, allowing creativity to flow naturally,” he said.
Speaking further, he noted, “As an entertainer, I have faced challenges such as criticism and self-doubt. Not everyone resonates with my music. Sometimes I struggle with meeting my own expectations,” he explained.
However, Pinqmilz said he stays motivated by remembering why he started, “music is about self-expression and connection,” remarked Pinqmilz, and with the unwavering support of his mother, he continues to push through obstacles, embracing growth and resilience.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for support! This journey has been incredible, and I truly believe ‘Hard Times Don’t Last’ will connect with so many of you. No matter what challenges you face, keep pushing forward and stay hopeful. I can’t wait for you all to hear the EP!,” he added.
