The Executive Secretary, Osun Health Insurance Agency, OSHIA, Dr. Razaq Akindele, has disclosed that the agency has cleared over a billion naira debt within his first year in charge.
Akindele made the disclosure at the Annual Performance Review and Strategy Retreat, held at Miccom Golf Hotels and Resorts, Ada, Osun State, on Monday.
He stressed that all outstanding payments to health service providers and health centres have been fully settled.
According to him, “I met more than a billion naira debt, and I have cleared all the debt. It is ranging money that we’ve owed health services in terms of the fee for services they were supposed to get over the years and the health centres capitation for 13 months.
“My priority is to clear all this debt and we are not owing anybody a penny now.”
Earlier, in his address the Board Chairman, of OSHIA, Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji, expressed his confidence that the retreat will record positive achievements.
Also, the State Head of Services, HOS, Ayenleye Aina, expressed confidence in OSHIA, stressing that all civil servants in the state must enroll in the scheme for effective health service delivery.
He said, “we are doing everything at MDA levels to encourage everyone to enroll, in fact it is compulsory they enroll in this scheme.”
