Abakaliki: Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has directed security agencies to fully mobilize to Amagu-Nkalaha community in Ishielu Local Government Area to protect lives and property following a deadly attack by suspected armed herdsmen.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday, claimed the lives of 10 persons and left several houses destroyed.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru condemned the attack, describing it as a disregard for the sanctity of human life. He urged the security forces to bring the situation under control and called on residents to remain calm and avoid reprisal attacks.

“I am saddened to learn about the attack on the people of Nkalaha in Ishielu Local Government Area, which led to the death of innocent citizens of the state. This attack is a flagrant disregard for the sanctity of human life,” the Governor said.

He expressed concern over the recurring nature of such incidents in the area and assured residents that the government would take decisive steps to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“Our people are very accommodating, but strangers should not take advantage of their calmness to unleash terror on them,” he warned.

Governor Nwifuru extended his condolences to the families of the victims, assuring them that the government would not abandon them and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult moment. Be assured that you will not be left alone, and the perpetrators will be brought to book,” he said.
