• Commends Gov. Adeleke for being proactive

The Federal Government has tasked Governors across the country to tap into opportunities inherent in the creative sector of the economy to create opportunities for the youths in their respective states.

This is as the FG described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s proactive measures in tapping the creative sector as worthy of emulation by other governors.

Speaking at the first creative conference for youths in Osun State held at SDG centre Iragbiji on Tuesday, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, Adejoke Orelope-Adefululire stressed the need for sub-national government to explore opportunities in the sector.

Represented by a Senior Technical Adviser, Dr Bala Yususa, she said, “Nigerian government has demonstrated strong commitment in the overall implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

“There are huge potentials in the Nigerian youth, our population is useful, and we can only think through creativity, and innovation to tap the huge potential for the creative economy. It holds a huge potential in generating employment, and decent work and empowering youth to achieve their good potential.

“What is happening in Osun is a sub-national conference trying to link the potential of the creative economy to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and within the framework of the SDGs. We must commend the state government of Osun for demonstrating commitment to the overall implementation of the SDGs”.

In his address, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to nurturing the creative economy as a vital tool towards achieving the SDGs goal by 2030.

“Osun State is blessed with a heritage that inspires the imagination. We have the sacred Osun-Osogbo Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Osun is a natural melting pot for creative talents, where ideas flow freely, and innovation thrives”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs, Bamikole Omishore in his welcome remark, said the event is targeted at making the creative sector a major revenue driver for the youth and government.
