‘Boko Haram, by-product of Northern govs’ failure’

By FESTUS AHON

UGHELLI— Former Special Assistant on Students Affairs to former Governor James Ibori of Delta State, Mr. Mark Ikpuri, Thursday, alleged that the upsurge of Boko Haram activities was the by-product of the failure of Northern governors to develop their people and  region.

He condemned the call by Northern governors for the increase in revenue from the Federal Government.

Fielding questions from newsmen, he said the call was unacceptable to the people of the South.

Stressing that such call was detrimental to the people of the  South-South, who according to him, produce 80 per cent of the nation’s wealth.

He said: “Southerners are not responsible for the poverty and underdevelopment in the North.

“There are natural resources in the North which they could explore and deploy the proceeds to improve the quality of life of their people and accelerate the development of their region.”

He urged the Northern governors to tackle the Boko Haram menace.
