The Nigerian College of Accountancy, Kwall, near Jos, the training arm of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), is making remarkable strides in advancing the science of accountancy as it celebrates its 11th Convocation Ceremony.
Established under the ANAN Act 76 of 1993, the College has become a premium brand of choice in Nigeria’s professional accounting education and training, thus transforming the way accountants are trained and certified. Since its inception in the 1984/85 academic session with only 10 students, the institution has grown exponentially, now boasting students population of approximately 4,000 in recent time.
Moving from its temporary sites in Barkin Ladi and Jos North LGAs, the College now operates from its permanent site at Kwall, Bassa LGA, near Jos, Plateau State. It holds the distinction of being the first professional accountancy college in Nigeria and the third globally, solidifying its reputation as a premier institution in the field.
Speaking on the convocation, the Director General of the College, Dr. Friday Effiong Akpan, FCNA emphasized that the event celebrates the graduation of a new cohort of skilled and ethical accountants who are prepared to elevate accountancy practice in Nigeria and beyond. Dr. Akpan also underscores the College’s commitment to producing well-rounded professionals, equipped with both knowledge, skills and integrity.
Dr. Kayode Olushola Fasua, the Chief Executive Officer of ANAN, praised the College’s achievements, urging continued efforts to strengthen ANAN’s status as a premium brand in the accountancy profession.
Similarly, the President and Chairman of ANAN Council, Dr. James E. Neminebor, call on stakeholders to join in the crusade to eradicate unethical practices within the profession, advocating for integrity and excellence in accounting.
As the College celebrates its 11th Convocation, it reflects on its mission to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in accounting. Guests and graduating students are wished a joyful celebration by Dr. Akpan, marking yet another milestone in the journey of excellence as the Director General of the Nigerian College of Accountancy.
