The initiative, which kicks off on October 28, 2024, will sponsor 20 aspiring cybersecurity professionals across Africa, offering expert training, career opportunities, and hands-on experience to tackle the growing demand for skilled cybersecurity experts.

Abdulrahman Akanbi, the Founder and CEO of Sycom Integrated Solutions, said the scholarship is designed to address the continent’s critical shortage of cybersecurity professionals while opening doors to international opportunities. Akanbi, a seasoned cybersecurity specialist with over 18 years of experience, stated, “This program is not just about skill-building; it’s about equipping African talent to excel globally and empowering communities to thrive in the digital age.”

The scholarship will provide rigorous training in advanced cybersecurity practices, including threat detection, incident response, and cloud security. Sycom also plans to secure job placements for at least five graduates in countries such as the UK, US, and Canada.
