BENIN—THE Governorship Campaign Organization of Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, weekend, declared that the former governor does not intend to decamp to the Action Congress of Nigeriam, ACN, despite the recent visit of Governor Adams Oshiomhole to his Iruekpen country home.

In a statement by Chief Best Ose, Abas Jega, Dr Folus Ejele and two others, the organisation explained that the visit of the incumbent governor was to “seek the wise counsel of the former governor, generally on matters relating to the development of our dear state and to acknowledge Prof. Osunbor’s outstanding strides during his very short period in office as governor of Edo state.”

It will be recalled that the former governor expressed his support for the Oshiomhole-led administration last week when the incumbent governor visited his residence. His comments fueled rumours that he was dumping the PDP for the ACN, following the recent governorship primary of the PDP whose result he rejected.

To punish the PDP over what they described as alleged humiliation of their son Osunbor, over two thousand loyalists of Osunbor in Iruekpen, led by former Council chairman, Monday Abulu, dumped the PDP for the ACN, weekend.

However, the Osunbor Campaign Organization observed that “some selfish persons have misrepresented the novel motives of the visit of Governor Oshiomhole to his immediate predecessor and PDP stalwart, Prof.Osunbor at his Iruekpen country home.”

But to our utter dismay, the meeting which was seen by many as evidently intended to elevate the sacred interests of Edo people above partisan differences, have elicited baseless and untrue story about Prof Osunbor decamping to the ACN.

“Our dear state is bigger than any single individual or political party and the development of Edo state is paramount on the minds of Prof.Osunbor and all his supporters. No amount of diabolical and diversionary activities of these rumour mongers can dissuade our strong resolve to move our state forward” it stated.
